What We Collect

MealBeacon collects only what's needed to analyze your meals and coach you toward your nutrition goals:

  • Phone number — encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. Used only to send and receive SMS messages.
  • Meal photos and descriptions — images and text you send describing your meals. Used to generate nutrition analyses. Raw SMS content is not persisted beyond the active session.
  • Nutrition memory — structured data about your goals, dietary preferences, and intake history, stored to personalize coaching over time. Never shared with third parties.
  • Health goals (optional) — weight targets, dietary restrictions, and fitness goals you share with MealBeacon. Used only to tailor coaching messages.

What We Don't Collect

  • ✓Raw SMS content is not persisted — it's analyzed and summarized into structured nutrition data

AI Analysis

Meal photos and descriptions you send are analyzed by Claude AI (Anthropic) to generate nutrition breakdowns and coaching. Images are processed securely and are not retained by Anthropic beyond the request. MealBeacon does not sell or share your images with any third party.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the MealBeacon service — analyzing meal photos, delivering nutrition information, and coaching you over time. We never sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising.

Health Information

Any health-related information you share (weight goals, dietary restrictions, medical conditions) is stored securely and used only to personalize your coaching experience. This data is not shared with insurance companies, employers, or any third parties.

Third-Party Services

  • Linq / Twilio — delivers SMS messages. Your phone number is shared only to route messages.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — processes your meal photos and text to generate nutrition analyses. Data is sent securely and not retained by Anthropic.

Data Security

Phone numbers are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with unique initialization vectors per record, with a separate HMAC-SHA256 hash for lookups. Every access to decrypted personal data is audit-logged. Nutrition memory is stored securely and accessible only to you.

Opting Out

Text STOP at any time to unsubscribe. Your data will be deactivated immediately. To request full data deletion, contact privacy@ipalmedia.com.
